Feels like Siberia...

It is so cold outside. We have had a blast of cold weather suddenly. This morning it was 6 degrees. The one good thing....we didn't have school today due to the cold. They are calling it a "cold day". I really wanted to take Carter out and meet Gary for lunch, but I made myself feel guilty about getting him out in this kind of weather so I decided to stay home. Then, while he was taking his nap, I started thinking...okay, last year, we were walking him around Siberia in a lot colder weather than this. So tonight we ventured out. We went to eat at our favorite regular spot...Pancho's. I can remember sitting in Russia craving that place last year. (We eat there at least once a week) Now Carter is home with us and is a regular there as well. All the waiters just love him.

Carter is definitely a momma's boy, but he is really starting to get crazy about his daddy. I love to watch him when Gary walks in the door from work. He runs to him full force and is so excited. The other night he grabbed a hold of Gary's head with both hands and gave him kisses. It was so sweet. He saw how much I enjoyed it, so he did it to me. I mean we get kisses all the time, but when he grabbed a hold of my head and pulled me to him...wow...what a feeling. I also love when he hugs us so tight. He is definitely learning how to work his mommy and daddy.

He has started using "stop" with us so much lately. It drives me crazy. However, I'm so glad it is not "no". I hate to hear a child say that. (even though I'm sure it's coming) He uses "uh uh" or "stop" instead. I guess because that's what we say. We try to refrain from using "no". His vocabulary is starting to expand. The teacher in me was wanting to worry, but after spending time with some other kids his age over the holidays, I feel much better about it.

So I will backtrack a little....
On New Years Eve, we got a late start. (Now keep in mind that Gary and I don't go out often, but New Years Eve is a time that we always go out.) Well this year...we left the house around 9:00. We stopped by Pancho's to eat. Then we found ourselves at Wal-Mart at 10:30. Gary looked at me and said..."Windy, we are at Wal-Mart at 10:30 on New Years Eve." All we could do was laugh. The funny thing is that I couldn't have been happier in that moment. I was spending time with my wonderful husband and precious son in one of my favorite places. So we left there and stopped by church on the way home. They have a New Years singing every year. We have opted to skip this the past several years. But we were able to go in and enjoy a little bit of it. Carter had lots of fun. He danced and entertained everyone sitting around us. He even threw his hands in the air and praised God as the man beside us did. I thought we were going to fall out laughing. Then we headed home. We kept Carter up and we watched the ball drop on t.v. and then we all headed off to bed. So another words....a simple New Years, but the best I've ever had!

I will leave you with this pic. One night, as we were in target with James, Amber, and Nathan, we walked by some footed pajamas in the little boys section that were extremely long. We all got the biggest kick out of it. I don't know if we were just behind in times or what but I had never seen footed pajamas for older kids. Since then I have seen them in the adults section as well. But anyway...Gary insisted that we buy them because they were so funny looking. So we went home and laughed hysterically at each other put them on. So........
